Historic Coast Handy Men - St. Augustine, Florida - historiccoasthandymen.com - hello@historiccoasthandymen.com
This Privacy Policy explains what information Historic Coast Handy Men ("we", "us") collects when you visit historiccoasthandymen.com, ask for a quote, book or receive our handyman or junk removal services, pay an invoice, or use your client account page, and how we use, share and protect it. It forms part of our Terms of Service. By using the site or our services you agree to this policy.
1. Information you give us
- Contact details: your name, email address and phone number.
- Home and job details: the service address, whether it is a house or a condo, the jobs on your list and how many of each, the items or load size for junk removal, whether you will supply materials, when you would like the work done, the plan you choose, your preferred day, and any notes you write for us.
- Access information: gate codes, lockbox codes, key arrangements, parking directions, details about pets, and HOA or condo rules. We treat this as sensitive and give it only to the people who need it for your visits.
- Photos you upload with a quote request.
- Messages you send us through the site, by email or by text.
- Payment information: card payments are processed by Stripe. You type your card into Stripe's secure card form on our payment page, so your card number and security code go from your browser directly to Stripe, our card processor, and never reach our servers. We receive and keep the card brand, the last four digits, the expiration date of a card you choose to save, a reference to the payment, and the result of each payment. If you save a card for automatic payments, Stripe keeps it on your customer record there, and we keep only that reference and a record of the consent you gave, when and from which IP address.
The quote form saves as you type. So that you can leave and come back, the quote form saves your answers to our server as you fill it in, before you press send, under a private link stored in your browser. If you leave without sending, we may still see what you entered and may contact you about it if you gave us a way to reach you. Unfinished quotes with no contact details are deleted after 30 days. You can ask us to delete an unfinished quote or your details at any time.
Photos we take on the job. Our techs take before and after photos of the work, which are kept with your quote and job records together with any photos you uploaded. We do not publish photos of your property without asking you first.
2. Information collected automatically
- Server logs: your IP address, browser and device type, the page requested, the page that referred you, and the date and time. We use these to run and secure the site, prevent abuse and limit repeated requests.
- How you found us: if you arrive through an ad (and the ad platform's click identifier in the link), a tagged link (UTM parameters) or another website, we record that with your quote or message.
- Spam prevention: how long a form took to complete, and hidden fields that only automated programs fill in.
- Payment security: Stripe's card form collects information about your device and connection, such as your IP address, to detect and prevent fraud, under Stripe's own privacy policy (stripe.com/privacy).
3. Cookies and similar technologies
Necessary, always on. These make the site work and cannot be switched off:
- a record of your cookie choice, kept in your browser's local storage;
- the private link to your unfinished quote, kept in local storage so you can pick it up again;
- on our payment page, cookies that Stripe's card form sets to process the payment and prevent fraud;
- a sign-in cookie used only by our own staff in our team app.
No third-party analytics or advertising tags. The site does not currently load any third-party analytics, advertising or social media tracking tags. If we add any, they will load only after you allow them in the cookie banner, and this policy will name them.
Our own visit counter, only if you allow it. If you accept in the cookie banner, your browser keeps a random identifier in local storage and tells our own server which pages of this site you open, so we can see which pages lead to quote requests. It notes the page you arrived on, the website that sent you, any campaign tags in the link and whether you are on a phone, tablet or computer. It records no IP address, stays on our server and is shared with no one. If you then send a quote or a message, that visit history is linked to it. If you decline, nothing is counted, and declining later removes the identifier.
You can change your choice at any time from the control in the footer.
We do not use session recording or replay tools. Because optional tags stay off until you turn them on, we do not change how the site behaves in response to Do Not Track signals.
4. How we use information
- to prepare estimates, confirm the list and the price, and schedule and do the work;
- to contact you about your quote, visits, schedule changes, invoices and payments;
- to send invoices and receipts, process payments and, if you sign up, charge automatic monthly payments for a home care plan;
- to record when our techs arrived and left, handle guarantee requests and claims, and keep business and tax records;
- to protect our clients, team and business, prevent fraud and abuse, and secure our systems;
- to understand how people find and use the site and improve it, using optional tags only if you allow them;
- to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, and enforce our Terms of Service.
5. Text messages and email
If you tick the text message box, we send texts from Historic Coast Handy Men to the number you gave about your quote and your visits: a thank-you for your request, one follow-up if we have not heard back, a reminder the day before a visit, an on-the-way note, invoice and payment links, and one request for a review after a visit. We do not send automated texts before 9am or after 8pm. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help and STOP to opt out. Agreeing to texts is not a condition of any purchase. Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
We do not sell, rent or share your mobile number or your text message consent with any third party or affiliate for their marketing or promotional purposes. We share them only with the providers that deliver messages for us.
We email you about your quotes, visits, invoices and receipts: a thank-you when you send a request, up to two follow-ups if we have not heard back, a reminder the day before a visit, and one request for a review after a visit (at most once every four months). Reply to any of them to tell us to stop. If we send news or offers, every such email will let you unsubscribe, and we honor unsubscribe requests promptly.
6. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as follows:
- Our team: the techs assigned to your visits see what they need to do the work, such as your address, access notes and the job list. Field techs do not see prices or invoices.
- Service providers who work for us under obligations to protect it: Stripe (card processing and saved cards); our hosting provider; our email delivery provider and Twilio, which delivers our text messages and receives your name, contact details and the message; and the software services that help our office manage requests. None of these providers may use your details for their own marketing.
- Address suggestions: as you type an address, our server sends the text you typed to Photon, an address search service run by komoot, to suggest matching addresses. Your IP address and other details are not sent.
- Optional tags, only if you allow them, as described in section 3.
- Legal and safety reasons: when required by law, subpoena or court order, or when we believe in good faith it is needed to protect the rights, property or safety of our clients, our team, our business or others.
- Business transfers: as part of a merger, sale of assets or reorganization, in which case this policy continues to apply to the information transferred.
- With your permission, for any other purpose you agree to.
7. Private quote, invoice and account links
We send you private links to your saved quote, to each invoice and to your client account page. The links are long and random and do not need a password, so anyone who has a link can open that page. Please do not post or forward them. If a link has been shared by mistake, tell us and we will replace it, which stops the old link working.
8. How long we keep information
- Unfinished quotes with no contact details are deleted after 30 days.
- Quote requests and messages are kept as long as useful to respond, schedule and follow up.
- Client records, job photos, visit history and arrival and departure records are kept while you are a client and afterward as needed for our records and to resolve questions, guarantee requests or claims.
- Invoices and payment records are kept for as long as tax and accounting laws require.
- Server logs are kept for a limited time for security and troubleshooting.
9. Security
We protect information with encrypted connections, access limited by staff role, hashed passwords, encryption of stored account keys, and by never handling card numbers ourselves. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you as Florida law requires (section 501.171, Florida Statutes).
10. Your choices and rights
Wherever you live, you may ask us to:
- give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- correct information that is wrong;
- delete your information, except what we must keep by law, such as invoice and tax records, or need to resolve an open claim or payment;
- stop texts (reply STOP to any of our texts) or emails (reply to any of our emails and ask us to stop, or email us at the address below);
- turn off automatic payments and remove a saved card, which you can also do yourself from your client account page.
Email hello@historiccoasthandymen.com. We may need to confirm your identity first, and we respond within 30 days. We will not charge you or treat you differently for making a request.
11. Children
The site and our services are meant for adults. The site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Where information is stored
Our systems and our main providers are in the United States. The address search service described in section 6 is operated from Germany and receives only the address text you type.
13. Our team app
Our team app records when a tech checks in and out of a visit and, with permission from their device, their location at those two moments, so we can confirm when your home was serviced and keep accurate records. It does not track location between those moments. That data is kept for operations and billing records only.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If we make a material change, we will tell current clients by email before it takes effect.
